The organisation started when I spoke to Lupo on the phone, who suggested the idea of a get-together with the Balaton Table brothers at a location on Lake Balaton. There was little interest in the invitation sent around, so in consultation with Captain Phoenix we extended the invitation to the Budapest Table brothers and decided on a venue in Balatonboglar. To my great delight, the turnout exceeded our hopes, as confirmed by the list of participants: 27 of us gathered in the area under the harbour hangar, and in this viral weather we were very happy to meet.
Myself and my captive were the first to arrive at ½ 9, as I had cooked the goulash for lunch on the spot, which, being made from 6 kg of beef shank, took some time. Then at 10am, Lupo di Mare arrived with a large casserole dish containing a bed of beans and cabbage with oven-roasted malachagas. As part of the preparations, my corsara had also brought her favourite automatic coffee machine so that she could give us a coffee of the right quality. The machine, however, took offence, refusing to work with an extension cord. But until we figured that out and fixed it, we were in a bit of a nervous mood.

Everyone arrived at the scheduled start time of 12 noon, and the selection of drinks and snacks, organised in a bathtub-like fashion, was nothing short of amazing. The Corsaras really came into their own, especially Gabi, whose cream and chocolate chip cookies were met with undivided approval from the attendees. As for the drinks, they could have lasted another day....
Our captain Phoenix opened the zaff., informing us of the change we already know about, to hand over his shipping business to a suitable candidate who wishes to carry on the tradition unchanged. After a good lunch led by El Toro Golpe de Canon, we got drunk and sipped a pleasant drink. At 15.30 we set sail with the Phoenix, and although a light breeze was blowing, we also set sail. There was also a good atmosphere on board, with several firing practice instructions given by our brother Vitéz.
After mooring we had scones, chatted, enjoyed the bond of company we had not felt for a long time. At 6pm we broke the table, cleared the area of debris and at 7pm we were the last to say goodbye.
It felt great to finally be together, to talk and to be free from the viral nightmare of everyday life. Thank you to all the brothers, sisters and guests who participated.
