2021.12.04 at 16 30 the Budapest and Balaton table's merged year-end Zaffarancho started. We expected 28 people to participate, but due to the unfortunate virus situation, several of them could not participate, so 22 of us gathered at the venue.
At 17h00 Captain Phoenix welcomed all present, followed by a toast from our Knight National Captain and a Golpe de Canon with Diplomatico black powder (the powder served excellently, no smoke, no damp, all shots delivered the expected results...) The toasts were concluded by Captain Abrand of the Budapest Table.
Then Vitéz connetable asked for the floor and told us that his son had paid a visit to Kookaburra commodore in the summer, who welcomed the Hungaria brothers of the Parti brothers. He also sent gunpowder to hold a firing squad in memory of Hussar commodore at the end of the year. I have scanned his words of welcome here:
After the volley fires, our brother Vitéz handed over to the Captains of the Tables the flags and Table ornaments that Kookaburra commodore had kept until then. Badges were also given as gifts to those present.
The next item on the agenda was a report by our brother Viharmadár on his sailing across the Atlantic Ocean, which he illustrated with pictures. Our brother took part in the ARC race in 2002 with six of you and completed the 2700 nm between Gran Canaria and Saint Lucia in 17 days.
He then presented the current status of the rebuilding of the original ~1935-built inland dinghy 22, illustrated with pictures. After seeing the pictures, the undertaking can only be interpreted as outside the category of common sense, but in any case we wish it good luck and perseverance.
Dinner then began, with the usual oven roasts, purple cabbage and onion potato casserole, and poppy seed bean dessert. Once again, the portions were beyond our capacity, and everyone ate until they were breathless. In the meantime, of course, we talked, brainstormed about next year's activities, and had a great time.
After dinner, we shared the spoils of war, the festive gift of the Balaton table. Our National Captain Golpe de Canont led the way.
Finally, after 9 pm, we said goodbye with festive wishes and closed the Zaffaranch.
The event was a success, without any problems, to the complete satisfaction of all participants. We managed to complete all the items on the agenda, recall the pleasant and interesting moments of the past year, and retire for the winter with a good feeling.
