Travel Report on the Balaton Table Sailing in the Adriatic Spring 2017.04.05-04.09.

Participants: Phoenix, captain of the Balaton table

Vitéz, Lupo di Mare, Vagabund brothers,

György Bunda is an aspirant and his partner is Rita

We set off on Wednesday morning for Kastela Gomilica, headed by our captain Phoenix, in a chilly but pleasant spring time. The road passed quickly thanks to the atmosphere on the bus and the pace of our captain Phoenix. The Transporter, which had seen so much and ran more than 600,000 kilometers, was agile at a speed of 140 km / h, breaking the age. So at 4 pm, the team had "parade" in the port with two porters and lots of stuff. Some of the stuff was related to the ship, the other part was supplies, and other personal items like brandy, sleeping bags, wine, etc.

Evening would have been fitted with Sea Star, but Lupo di Mare brought a bit longer screw to secure the sail rope. The saw taken out for the solution, even with an amateur eye, would only be good for cutting hot water. That was the task the next day, but the ship was ready to go. We had dinner, and after a quiet wine-drinking conversation, we held a loud snoring competition.

On Thursday morning, the screws were cut to size, but the Croatian tool was not much better, so ~ half an hour passed. Then we pulled up the main sail, breakfast, and after 10 departure. We sailed through the Split Gate by motor, then unfurled our sails and made a gentle breeze towards the passage between Brac and Solta. Due to the wind direction, we decided on Stari Grad as a destination on the island of Hvar, where we arrived at 5pm. Dinner followed by a pleasant conversation about the past of the Balaton Table. With Vitéz's help, I learned many useful and interesting details about the Table, past programs and events. Here are some pictures of what has happened so far.

A bunch of sails in front of me ...

How do we start the assembly?

Only the main sail is out of place.

After mooring in Stari Grad.

Computer addiction is timeless… (The waiter waited for the order, but his patience is gone…)

Go to the bakery, buy fresh bread…

On Friday morning, we looked around at Stari Grad and filled up our bread bin. Lupo di Mare checked the weather forecasts and what happened in Hungary, and we set off after breakfast. No destinations yet, we look at the city of Hvar for now. We sailed full-sail in a pleasant 10-16 knots southwest wind and entered the city harbor at half past two in the afternoon. We didn't want to land, we turned to after photography and headed for Brac. We went sailing all the time and met dolphins on the way, but unfortunately they didn't follow the ship, they just showed themselves. The favorable wind persisted until Milna, where we spent the night after the usual evening programs. (I handled the wheel first when mooring and no big mistake happened)

By Saturday morning the ship had cooled down because the shore current fuse had tripped. The reset attempt resulted in strange noise and some smoke around the switchboard below the map table. After a short consultation, we assumed a short-circuit of the incoming direct line, which was confirmed after the fuse box was opened. Box out, terminal strip down, auto fuse block out, burnt wire shorten, release screws removal, wire installation, test load and reassembly. In short, but in that impossible little place, the action lasted for nearly 2 hours in Indian Fahrish poses. All is well if the end is good, and it was no different now. After this little intermezzo, breakfast, departure, refueling, and winding out of the Gulf of Milne. The wind was nowhere, with the first toilet full service parts replacements, and by 11 o'clock, a breeze appeared in the west and began to spread slowly. At noon, there were 28 updates to the 20-knot Western base, and we were very good at sailing full of tack. Cruising towards Ciovo Island, turning before the coast, heading for Solta, half-winding before the coast, three-quarters of the wind ahead of Rogac, Necujam, and Stomorska, then heading for Split Gate. The wind was weakening, but it lasted all the way to Gomilica, only the last mile to start the engine. Mooring, the usual evening program, and a restful night. Sunday packing, cleaning, and leaving at 10am.

With a sail towards Hvar.

The team. Only the helmsman, that is, myself missing from the picture.

Hvar.

Milna.

When it is really fun to sail.

The engine was not working, the speed was excellent…

In conclusion, I had a very meaningful enjoyable program with an excellent company. The weather was gracious as well, we were able to sail for about 50-60 miles in good wind conditions and nothing bothered us.

Thanks to everyone!
